Apparent low pressure: Warning signal no 3 issued in seaports

Dhaka, August 1: The trend of rain is increasing over the country under the influence of clear low pressure. Hence, the daytime temperature may drop by up to 2 degrees Celsius. Weather forecasters said that the mild heat wave that is sweeping over the country may disappear from most of the places on Tuesday.

At the same time, the Meteorological Department has asked the seaports to display local warning signal No. 3 due to the threat of thunderclouds forming under the influence of clear low pressure.

Light rain in Dhaka after Monday afternoon. However, after 9:00 pm, a gust of wind blew over Dhaka, accompanied by lightning. Then it started raining. It was raining heavily in Dhaka until writing this report at 10:15 pm.

In a marine weather warning on Monday evening, the Meteorological Department said deep convective clouds are forming over the North Bay of Bengal under the influence of pronounced low pressure over the North Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas. Due to its influence, gale force winds may blow over North Bay of Bengal and adjacent coastal areas and seaports of Bangladesh.

The warning further states that Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports have been asked to show local warning signal number 3. The Meteorological Department has asked all fishing boats and trawlers in North Bay of Bengal to proceed with caution near the coast until further notice.

On Monday evening, the Meteorological Department said, the low pressure over North West Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Orissa and Gangetic West Bengal coastal areas is currently concentrated in the form of a distinct low pressure over central North Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas. Monsoon axis extends over Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, pronounced low pressure center and southern Bangladesh to Assam. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong elsewhere in northern Bay of Bengal.
