Armies of 24 countries will work together for peace and stability

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Sept 17: The closing ceremony of the 46th Indo-Pacific Armies Management Seminar (IPAMS) was held with the message of unity to maintain regional as well as global peace and stability.

The seminar was jointly organized by the Bangladesh Army and the Pacific Region of the United States Army at a hotel in Dhaka on Thursday. Bangladesh Army Chief General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed and United States Army Pacific Region Chief General Charles A. Flynn along with military officers from 24 participating countries were present at the closing ceremony.

General Shafiuddin Ahmed and General Flynn gave farewell speeches at the event. They handed over certificates to the representatives of all countries participating in the seminar. The flag of IPAMS was handed over to the representative of the Indian Army as the next host in the ceremony. Finally, the closing ceremony ended with the national anthems of the United States and Bangladesh played by musical instruments.

In his farewell speech, General Flynn said that the leaders of the ground forces of 24 countries of the Indo-Pacific region have come together in this conference to send a strong message of unity and collective efforts in the security and prosperity of this most promising region of the world. Bangladesh Army has set an international standard in organizing this conference.

On the other hand, Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed believes that the number of Bangladeshi friends internationally has increased through this conference.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 46th IPAMS on September 12. In this four-day conference held from September 12-15, the senior military leaders of 24 countries participating in the conference discussed and exchanged views on 'possibilities and challenges in maintaining peace and security in the Indo-Pacific region'.

This year's conference held three plenary sessions on 'Strong Peacekeeping', 'Empowerment of Women' and 'Role of Ground Forces in Maintaining Peace and Stability in the Indo-Pacific Region'.
