ARSA commander killed in Rohingya camp shootout with police

Dhaka, July 10: A shootout occurred between members of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) and ARSA (Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army) terrorists at the Rohingya camp in Ukhia Upazila of Cox's Bazar. A commander of ARSA was killed in the firing.

Additional DIG Syed Haroon Rashid, commander of 14 APBN, said that the incident took place at Rohingya Camp-17 in Ukhia early on Monday morning.

Deceased Hossain Ahmed Kaiser (35) son of Zafar Hossain of Ukhiyar Camp-17 Block-AS/79. He is known as Hussain Majhi.

14 APBn captain Harun Rashid said that the members of APBn went on a raid early in the morning after knowing the location of ARSA top commander Hossain Ahmed Kaiser in Camp-17 area.

ARSA members fired at the police. The police also fired back in self-defense. ARSA's top commander Hussain Ahmed Kaiser was killed in the firing. Two one-shooter guns, six rounds of bullets and a walkie-talkie were seized at that time.

He also said that the deceased Hossain Majhi is accused in multiple murder cases. Efforts are on to nab his accomplices.

Ukhia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Mohammad Ali said, "Arsa and APBn members were fired upon at Camp-17. An ARSA commander died on the spot after receiving bullet injuries. We sent the body to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy."

Earlier on Friday morning, there was an incident of firing between ARSA and RSO terrorists. Five ARSA terrorists were killed in this. On the same day in the evening, another Rohingya's throat slit body was found on the hillside. Three days later, there was a shootout with the police and Hussain Majhi was killed.
