Own representative, Dhaka, December 25: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that as long as Bangladesh exists, there will be non-communal consciousness. He said Bangladesh is a country of non-communal consciousness. Bangladesh is the land of Bangabandhu, so, provocation is useless.

The Home Minister was speaking at the biennial conference of the Bangladesh Puja Celebration Council at Dhakeshwari Temple in the capital's Lalbagh on Friday (December 24).

He said Bangabandhu's dream was to have a non-communal Bangladesh. "This country belongs to everyone. As long as there is Bangladesh, there will be non-communal consciousness. No force can remove Bangladesh from this place. Everyone here is Bangladeshi and we are all Bengalis."

He said that just as we all get together at Christmas, we also get together during Puja. "The same picture can be seen in our country during Eid. We also share the joy of everyone on the Buddhist full moon. This is Bangladesh. Looking back thousands of years, the same scene can be seen. That is why we are moving forward at a dauntless speed."

Mentioning the good relations between Bangladesh and India on the occasion, Indian High Commissioner Vikram Kumar Doraiswami said that religion belongs to individual, but festivals belong to everyone. The two countries share not only history and culture, but also secularism and mutual benefits. India has always supported Bangladesh and will continue to do so.

President of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad Milon Kanti Dutta expressed gratitude for India's contribution in the freedom struggle of Bangladesh. He said Bangladesh's friendship with India will become stronger day by day. However, there are still some unresolved issues between the two countries.

He drew the attention of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to the fact that the people of the two countries would benefit if the Teesta water problem could be solved. He said that besides the administration, political leaders should be present in the field to maintain secularism in the country.
