Attack on Chief Justice's residence: BNP leader and former home minister Altaf Hossain arrested

Dhaka, 5 November 2023 : RAB has arrested Air Vice Marshal (retd) Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, former Home Minister and Air Force Chief and currently BNP Vice President.

RAB arrested him while hiding in Tongi area on Sunday morning.

Director of Legal and Media Wing of RAB, Commander Khandaker Al Moin, said that the accused in the case of attack, sabotage and violence on the Chief Justice's residence on October 28 is Vice President of BNP, Air Vice Marshal (Retd.) Altaf Hossain Chowdhury. He was hiding in Tongi area. He was arrested based on tip-off.

Altaf Hossain Chowdhury has been brought to the RAB headquarters for preliminary interrogation. The official of RAB also said that the next legal measures will be announced later. Attack on the residence of the Chief Justice.

Meanwhile, law and order forces raided the Dhanmondi residence of BNP National Executive Committee International Affairs Secretary Barrister Nasir Uddin Asim at midnight. They surrounded Asim's Dhanmondi house around 12:30 pm on Saturday. Then he broke the gate of the house and entered inside. Meanwhile, members of law and order forces searched for Asim in different rooms of the house for about an hour.

Shamsuddin Didar, a member of BNP Chairperson's press wing, said that his wife and children stayed at Asim's house during the raid, but he himself was not at home.
