Dhaka, June 15: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed all forces, including the armed forces, to remain vigilant so that the opponents of the inauguration of the Padma Bridge on June 25 do not carry out any destructive activities.

"We have tackled such a big challenge as the construction of the Padma Bridge with our own funds, but those who opposed the construction of the bridge have a purpose," she said. "We have also received some information about it. We have learned that an event will take place so that we cannot hold the opening ceremony on the 25th. But we do not know what the opposition will do."

Sheikh Hasina made the remarks while addressing the 36th founding anniversary celebrations of the Special Security Force (SSF) at Shapla Hall of her office (PMO) here on Wednesday morning.

Addressing the three Chiefs of forces, Police, RAB, BGB and Ansar and VDP, the Prime Minister said, "We all need to be vigilant. The whole thing is a little suspicious. For this, I would like to tell everyone to be careful and look at our important installations. They have to be protected."

The head of government said that after the World Bank stopped financing the construction of the Padma Bridge at the instigation of individuals in this country, alleging fake corruption, her government had announced that it would finance it with its own money, otherwise scrap the project. Her government finally built the Padma bridge with their own money.

"You've already seen the train fire, the launch fire," she said. "Fires on ferries and even fires in Sitakunda can be started from one place, but how can there be sporadic fires in a few places," she questioned.

A video has been found about the train fire where it was seen burning near the wheels of the train, she also raised the question of how it is possible.

SSF Director General Major General (Retd.) Md. Mojibur Rahman delivered the welcome speech. Prime Minister's Security Adviser Major General (retd) Tariq Ahmed Siddique and Chief Secretary Dr Ahmed Kaikaus were present on the occasion.

The Prime Minister said her government has established Digital Bangladesh by bringing broadband internet to the village level as well as bringing information technology within the reach of the people. But she called on all to be vigilant about attempts to create terrorism or militancy.
