Bail fraud of 30 people: Two lawyers among four people involved

Dhaka, June 10: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has submitted an investigation report to the High Court on the involvement of four people, including two lawyers, in the bail fraud case of 30 accused in Bogra. The report was submitted to the concerned office of the High Court.

The report mentions the whole incident of fraud. The names of four people including two lawyers have come up in it. One of them is Raju Ahmed Rajib, a lawyer of Dhaka Court and the other is Tanzim Alam Misbah, a lawyer of Bogra Court. The report also said that computer operator Masud Rana and lawyer's assistant Md Sohag were responsible for the incident.

According to the report, Sohag, a lawyer's assistant, has already been arrested and sent to jail in connection with the fraud. Sohag made a confessional statement.

The court directed the investigating officer of the case to appear on June 23. He also ordered the arrest of three accused, including two fugitive lawyers, within two weeks. A hearing has been scheduled for June 23.

A virtual bench of the High Court comprising Justice Md Abu Zafar Siddiqui and Justice KM Hafizul Alam passed the order on Wednesday (June 9).

The High Court on February 24 directed the court to issue arrest warrants for the 30 accused in Bogra. The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bogra Sadar Police Station was directed to arrest the culprits. The Bogra Chief Judicial Magistrate was also directed to investigate the matter.

The High Court had on February 24 ordered the arrest of 30 people, including Aminur Islam, Abdul Alim and Anwar Mandal of Bogra Sadar Upazila, for making fake anticipatory bail in a case. The OC of Bogra Sadar Police Station was asked to arrest them within seven days of the order. The Bogra Chief Judicial Magistrate was also directed to investigate the matter.

According to the details of the incident, a clash took place between the two sides on February 9 in Bogra over control of the motor owner group. In this incident, on February 10, three separate cases were filed against more than five hundred people. Among them, Mashiul Alam Dipan, younger brother of Manjurul Alam Mohan, joint-general secretary of the district Awami League, filed a case against 33 people, including Aminur Islam. Bail forgery took place in this case.
