Dhaka, March 30: Neither masks nor bags will be allowed in the Dhaka University (DU) campus on Poila Baisakh. However, masks prepared by the Faculty of Fine Arts can be exhibited by hand.

This instruction was given from a meeting held at Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on Wednesday (March 29) to properly celebrate Bengali New Year. The meeting requested everyone to refrain from playing and selling vuvuzela flutes in the university campus.

Other instructions: All activities on New Year's Day in the campus should be completed by 5 pm. On Poila Baisakh, the campus will be open till 5 pm. No entry after 5pm, only exit. On the eve of Poila Baisakh, (Wednesday, April 13), after 7 pm, no vehicles other than vehicles with university stickers will be allowed on campus. No vehicles will be allowed on the campus on Poila Baisakh. Motorcycling is strictly prohibited.

A person residing in the university campus can use only the gate adjacent to Neelkhet Mor and the gate adjacent to Palashi Mor for traveling in their own vehicle. The university authorities sincerely apologize for this temporary inconvenience in public movement.

On Poila Baisakh, the gates of Suhrawardy Udyan will be closed behind the Raju Sculpture in front of the Student-Teacher Centre. People coming to the university campus can use the photo hut gate opposite the Faculty of Fine Arts, the Sohrawardy Udyan gate opposite the Bangla Academy and the gate adjacent to the Engineering Institute to enter the Suhrawardy Udyan. The gate adjacent to the Engineering Institute, the gate adjacent to Ramana Kali Mandir and the gate of Suhrawardy Udyan in front of Bangla Academy can be used as the exit route from Suhrawardy Udyan.
