Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Nov 9: Due to security reasons, the ban on the travel of tourists in Ruma, Rowangchhari, and Thanchi upazilas has been extended till November 12. The matter was informed in a notification signed by Deputy Commissioner Yachmin Parveen Tibriji on Tuesday evening.

It is known that joint military and anti-terror operations are being conducted in the hilly areas bordering Ruma-Rowangchhari and Thanchi upazilas of the district. A temporary ban on tourist travel was imposed due to security concerns during the Sarashi campaign.

Earlier, indefinite ban started from October 18 in Rowangchhari and Ruma upazilas. Later, the district administration imposed a ban on the travel of tourists in the four upazilas of Ruma, Thanchi, Rowangchhari and Ruma from October 23 to 30. Later, from October 30 to November 4, the administration again imposed restrictions in those four upazilas for the third time. At the end of that time limit, from November 4 to November 8, the time limit was again extended for the fourth round. However, the district administration banned the travel of tourists from November 8 to November 12, excluding Alikdam upazila, in three upazilas Ruma, Thanchi and Rowanchari.

On October 20, RAB arrested a total of 10 people, including seven people of the new militant organizationJamaatul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya and three people of the hilly separatist organization, from various areas of Bandarban and Rangamati. A large number of arms and ammunition were recovered from them.
