Dhaka, January 11: The historic Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has been celebrated across the country, including the capital Dhaka, on Sunday, through various programs.

The day's program began with the hoisting of national and party flags at Awami League's central office, Bangabandhu Bhaban and other party offices across the country.

Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader laid a wreath at the premises of Bangabandhu Bhaban in Dhanmondi on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at 9 am.

Later, Obaidul Quader along with senior leaders of the party paid homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu on behalf of the Awami League.

Awami League presidium members Begum Matia Chowdhury, Dr. Abdur Razzak, Abdul Matin Khasru, Shahjahan Khan and Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Information Minister and Joint General Secretary Dr. Hasan Mahmud, Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif and AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Organizing Secretary Ahmed Hossain, BM Mozammel Haque and Mirza Azam, Labor Secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj, Science and Technology Secretary Abdus Sabur, Central Committee member Dr. Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin and others were present.

Leaders and activists of Dhaka Metropolitan Awami League North and South, Juba League, Bangladesh Krishak League, Awami Swechchhasebak League, Mahila Awami League, Juba Mahila League, Jatiya Sramik League, Chhatra League and others paid homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu.

On the occasion of Bangabandhu's Homecoming Day, the Awami League organized a limited discussion meeting at its central office on Bangabandhu Avenue on Sunday afternoon. Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina addressed the discussion via video conference.

Meanwhile, on the occasion of Homecoming Day, Krishak League organized a discussion meeting and distribution of winter clothes at Engineers Institution Milanayatan.

Awami League presidium member Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Awami League joint general secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim addressed the discussion meeting chaired by Krishak League president Krishibid Sameer Chand.

Bishwanath Sarkar Bitu, Joint General Secretary of Krishak League, conducted the program.

On the occasion of Homecoming Day, Awami Juba League distributed doa mahfil, documentary exhibition and cooked food among the needy at Bangabandhu Avenue premises in the morning.
