Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesha Mujib Medal awarded to five women

Dhaka, August 9: This year, five eminent women have received the 'Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesha Mujib' medal, the highest national medal under 'A' category.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina joined the medal distribution ceremony organized by the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs at the capital's Osmani Memorial Auditorium on Monday (August 8) morning. State Minister for Women and Child Affairs Fazilatun Nessa Indira presented the medal on her behalf.

This year Syeda Jebunnesha Haque of Sylhet district in the field of politics; Member of Parliament of Comilla District Selima Ahmad in the field of economy; Former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor Nasreen Ahmad in the field of education; Mosammat Achia Alam of Kishoreganj district in social service; and in the field of freedom and liberation war, Gopalganj district's brave freedom fighter Ashalata Baidya (wartime commander) received the 'Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Necha Mujib' medal.

Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesha Mujib's birthday on August 8 has been declared as 'A' Class National Day by the government. Bangamata's 92nd birth anniversary was celebrated nationally on Monday.

In order to make Bangmata's contribution eternally memorable, five prominent women have been given 'Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Necha Mujib Padak 2022' in recognition of their important contribution in politics, economy, education, social service and freedom and liberation war.

Cabinet members, parliamentarians, government officials and leaders of various political parties and organizations were present at the medal distribution ceremony.
