Bangladesh: 30 percent rise in COVID-19 deaths witnessed in past one week

Dhaka, April 11, 2021: With the increase in the number of Covid-19 patients in the second wave of infection in the country, deaths are also increasing in the nation.

Eight people have died in the last 24 hours, so many deaths in one day after the onset of the epidemic.

According to the Department of Health, the death rate has risen by 30 percent in the past week. A total of 344 people died of coronavirus from March 26 to April 3. And from April 4 to April 10 - 448 people died in these 7 days.

The Department of Health confirmed the first death on March 17 last year, 10 days after the first coronavirus infection was detected in Bangladesh. Since then the number of deaths has been steadily rising. The death toll rose to 74 on June 30 last year, the highest number that year.

The infection then gradually declined, with the death toll rising slightly in November-December, but fell from January to early March, dropping to five.

But then the infection increases again, as well as death. Within a few days, the daily death toll rose to 50. The Department of Health reported 59 deaths on April 1, breaking the previous record on April 8. Since then, the number has not dropped below 70. A new record was set on April 6 when 84 people died, surpassing that on Saturday.
