Bangladesh: 6 govt hospital ICUs remain booked

Dhaka, July 18, 2021: After five consecutive days, the death rate in Corona has come down a bit, but the daily identification is still more than 12,000.

At present, there are no vacancies in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) for patients at six Corona Dedicated Hospitals in the capital. The Department of Health said this on Friday (July 18).

According to the Department of Health, corona patients are treated at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospitals and National Institute of Kidney Diseases and Urology among the 18 corona dedicated hospitals in the capital Dhaka, but there is no ICU facility.

Out of the remaining 13, 6 hospitals - 28 beds of Kuwait Bangladesh Maitri Government Hospital, 10 beds of Kurmitola General Hospital, 20 beds of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, 10 beds of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, 6 beds of National Chest Disease Institute and Hospital and 20 beds of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. All of them have patient admission.

Among the other six hospitals, Sheikh Russell Gastroliver Hospital has two out of 16 beds, Government Employees Hospital has one out of six beds, Mugda Medical College Hospital has two out of 24 beds, Rajarbagh Police Hospital has two out of 15 beds, TB Hospital has out of 16 beds, National Chest Diseases Institute and Five of the 10 beds in the hospital and 41 of the 212 beds in the DNCC Dedicated Corona Hospital are vacant.

In this context, the Department of Health has already expressed concern over the rise in corona infections, saying that the number of general beds and ICU beds in district-upazila and divisional hospitals, including the marginal stages of the country, is declining.
