Bangladesh calls for humanitarian assistance to Rohingyas

Dhaka, November 30: The meeting of the foreign ministers of the 57-member Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has ended. The meeting reiterated united fight against Islamophobia and terrorism, reaffirming support for Arab states' policy of a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue and raisning funds for Gambia's legal battle pertaining to persecution of Rohingyas in Myanmar's Rakhine state.

According to a Voice of America report on the meeting, Bangladesh called for continued political and humanitarian assistance to OIC member states until the Rohingya are repatriated to Myanmar in a dignified manner.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and OIC Permanent Representative Dr. Mohammad Jabed Patwari made the call.

In his speech at the conference, he called for more concerted action on various issues in the Muslim world, including Palestine.

Ambassador Jabed Patwari called on all concerned to be effectively involved in resolving the issue of "Islamophobia".

He also stressed the availability of coronavirus vaccines for OIC member states, increased trade between member countries to rebuild their economies and provide humanitarian assistance to member countries as needed.

Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen was supposed to lead the Bangladesh delegation to the conference, but he was infected with the corona virus. Jabed Patwari.

OIC Secretary General Dr. Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen told reporters on Saturday evening after the 47th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM), "We have emphasized on unity and solidarity, not division among Muslim countries. We are trying to walk in the path of respect for each other. Freedom of speech does not mean you can say anything you want about religion."
