Dhaka, April 11, 2021: The seven-day ban announced by the government to prevent corona infection is coming to an end today.

A relatively severe and all-encompassing lockdown is scheduled to begin on April 14. Awami League General Secretary and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said that the first phase will continue on April 12 and 13.

Asked about the matter to the minister, he said, "The first phase of 'ongoing lockdown' will continue on April 12 and 13." Obaidul Quader said this at a press conference at his official residence on Sunday (April 11).

The government imposed a seven-day lockdown or ban from 6am on April 5 as coronavirus (Covid-19) infections continued to grow at an alarming rate. This restriction will expire on April 11 at 12 noon.

A notification issued on April 4 by the Cabinet Division has given 11 instructions to comply with the restrictions.

When the restrictions started, the employees of the open government and private offices suffered due to lack of public transport. Passengers protested in different places without getting public transport. At the same time, the owners and workers started a movement demanding the opening of shops and markets.

Meanwhile, on April 8, public transport was launched in the city corporation area. The bus is running from 6 am to 6 pm. However, the movement of shopping mall and shop owners and workers was going on.

Finally, the Cabinet Division on Thursday (April 8) issued instructions that shops and shopping malls would be kept open from 9 am to 5 pm on Friday (April 9) in compliance with strict hygiene rules.

Meanwhile, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader told a briefing at his official residence on Friday (April 9th) morning that the coronavirus had taken a terrible turn in the country. The rate of infection and death is increasing by leaps and bounds. But the indifference of the people has not diminished. In this situation, in the public interest, the government is actively thinking about a comprehensive lockdown for a week from April 14.

Later on Friday afternoon, State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said the government was going for a strict lockdown to prevent coronavirus infection. The lockdown will be given for seven days from April 14.

He added that all government and non-government offices will be closed at this time except the emergency services. Public transport and factories will also be closed.
