Dhaka, June 19, 2022: Several roads have been cut off in Sylhet and Sunamganj to divert flood waters.

Local government minister. Tajul Islam said, "Some roads need to be cut in the flood-hit areas." The mayor of Sylhet has informed that. The flood water is going down easily. More roads will be cut if needed. '

The minister was responding to a question from reporters at the start of an inter-ministerial meeting at the secretariat on Sunday (June 19).

The minister also said that there is a flood alert in the capital. "There are flood warnings," he said. But no organization has yet predicted what will happen or how widespread the floods will be.

The minister said the transfer of responsibility for the canal to the city corporation and the release of illegal occupants was a boon. Waterlogging in Dhaka has also decreased. 27 canals have already been handed over to the two city corporations of Dhaka. Six and a half acres of land in South City Canal and 25 acres in North City have been vacated.

"Sometimes we deal with disasters," said Tajul Islam. Once again, some of our areas have been inundated and people have been affected by the floods. The Prime Minister immediately directed all the institutions to stand by the affected people.

The Minister said, "Our army, navy, coast guard, police, people's representatives and all are standing by the people in the disaster-hit areas at the behest of the Prime Minister." He also said that in areas like Sylhet, Sunamganj, Jamalpur, Netrokona where waterlogging has taken place, there is an effect of rain water as well as water from higher areas.

The low-lying areas of Dhaka are in danger of being inundated by the floods. What are your preparations? The people of this region have faced such disasters at different times. We are always prepared for disasters. A committee has been formed from our ministry by convening Joint Secretary Jasim Uddin to deal with the floods. The committee will function till June 30. Will be changed later if necessary.
