Bangladesh government felicitates members of Indian allied forces

Dhaka, 18 December 2022 : The Ministry of Liberation War has felicitated 30 Indian members of the Allied Forces who participated in the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971.

On Saturday (December 17) night, these brave members of the Indian Armed Forces who helped in the liberation war were felicitated in a ceremony at Hotel Intercontinental in the capital.

This information has been informed in a circular of the Ministry of Liberation War. Minister for Liberation War Affairs AKM Mozammel Haque, President of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Disaster Management and Relief Ministry Member of Parliament AB Tajul Islam, Member of Parliament Kazi Firoz Rashid, Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh, Senior Secretary of Public Security Department Aminul Islam Khan were present at the event organized by Ministry of Liberation War Affairs. , Ministry of Liberation War Secretary Khawaja Mia, Trustee of Liberation War Museum Mofidul Haque, Ekushey Medalist journalist Ajay Das Gupta along with Indian High Commission, Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs and high level officials of Armed Forces were present.

Members of the Indian Allied Forces, led by retired Lt. Gen. Anil Kumar Lumber, who participated in the Liberation War as a member of the Allied Forces, along with their families, have come to Bangladesh on the invitation of the Bangladesh Government on the occasion of the Great Victory Day. Expressing gratitude to foreign friends, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque said, "India's contribution to the Liberation War will be forever remembered in the history of Bangladesh."

Recalling the contribution of the then Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi, he said, Bangladesh could not have become independent in such a short time if India did not help by providing shelter, food and training to about 1 crore people. India has set a unique example of friendship by repatriating members of the Indian Allied Forces a few months after independence. The Liberation War Affairs Minister also said that the Bangladesh government is launching education scholarships for the family members of the Indian allied forces.
