Dhaka, November 12: The Bangladesh High Commission has taken initiative to give jobs to the deceived Bangladeshis in Brunei. High Commission officials are providing employment by contacting various companies in Brunei.

A job fair was organised at the premises of Bangladesh High Commission on Wednesday (November 11) at the initiative of Labour Wing under the supervision of High Commission.

Hundreds of unemployed expatriates took part in it on the first day. 65 of them have been confirmed to work in three companies, said the first secretary of the labor wing Md. Jilal Hossain.

He said the job fair was organized to help the deceived Bangladeshis get jobs in various companies in Brunei.

'But so many expatriates have crowded that it's not possible to do it in a day. We will keep it running until Friday. We will arrange jobs for about 500 Bangladeshis in different companies. I have already talked to several companies. They agreed. We will talk to more companies."

According to High Commission sources, High Commissioner Nahida Rahman Sumona inaugurated the job fair on Wednesday morning. Other officials of the commission and labour wing were also present at the time.

The job fair was attended by three Chinese companies in Brunei and hundreds of unemployed workers. Under the direct supervision of the High Commission, the recruitment process of the job seekers will be finalised after verification of passports and documents of the workers and taking oral and aptitude tests.

Despite the skills of many workers who have been the victims of visa fraud, the companies could not be selected due to lack of required documents.

The Labour Welfare Wing is in constant touch with various recruiting companies in Brunei and organises employment as per their skills and qualifications.

So far, more than a hundred Bangladeshi unemployed workers have been able to find employment by overcoming the uncertainties of their migration, according to the Labour Wing.
