Bangladesh is a unique example of a peaceful country: OIC Secretary General

Dhaka, March 21, 2021: The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has mentioned Bangladesh as a unique example as a peaceful country. Yusuf bin Ahmed Al Othaimeen.

He made the remarks in a congratulatory message on the occasion of Mujib Year and Golden Jubilee of Independence on Saturday (March 20).

The OIC Secretary General said, "Bangladesh is now a unique example of a peaceful country. They are also playing a role in the development of the Muslim world. I extend my best wishes to the President, the Prime Minister and all the people of this beautiful moment of Bangladesh. '

He said, "I wish all the best on the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence." Bangladesh gained independence in 1971. In 1974, the Father of the Nation decided to include Bangladesh as a member of the OIC. The Father of the Nation attended the second OIC conference in 1974 and was instrumental in building good relations with Bangladesh and the Muslim world.

The OIC Secretary General added, "Since then, its relations with Islamic countries have been very good. He has also played an important role in maintaining a peaceful environment in the Muslim world. Even on the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence, his daughter Sheikh Hasina has maintained a non-discriminatory and peaceful relationship.
