Bangladesh is ahead of the US in corona vaccination

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Sept 14: US Ambassador to Dhaka, Peter Haas, praised Bangladesh for handling the pandemic coronavirus situation and ensuring people's vaccination.

He said, "Bangladesh is clearly ahead of the United States in vaccination programmes under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. It is a truly amazing and outstanding skill."

US Ambassador Peter Haas came to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganabhaban on Tuesday (September 13). He said these at the time.

Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Zahid Tushar briefed the journalists after the meeting. He said, praising the transformation of Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Peter Haas said, "It is very impressive."

Peter Haas said, "Bangladesh has turned from a less developed country into a developing country. It will continue to improve."

Mentioning that the United States wants to partner with Bangladesh in the 'Global Covid Action Plan' to deal with the future situation of the epidemic, the US ambassador said, 'A Bangladesh-US special ministerial session will be held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly with other stakeholders.'

On the other hand, regarding the success of the Bangladesh government in dealing with Corona, the Prime Minister said, "My party (Awami League) and allied organizations have raised awareness among the people, served patients and distributed medicines and oxygen. They handled the pandemic situation efficiently from the beginning by working 24 hours a day.''

Sheikh Hasina said, "When the vaccine was available, the government provided free first, second and booster doses of the vaccine to the people. Now the government is also vaccinating children."

The Prime Minister said that she had formed a committee under the PMO to coordinate with other ministries and other stakeholders to manage the Corona vaccination project, which has worked really well.

At that time she (Prime Minister) herself communicated with everyone. Besides, Sheikh Hasina expressed her sincere gratitude to US President Joe Biden for giving vaccines to Bangladesh.

Referring to the fact that people are suffering due to Covid-19, the Russia-Ukraine war and Western sanctions, the PM said that the government is trying to work for the people with full capacity.
