Bangladesh: Memorial plaque unveiled for two Indian journalists who died during Muktijuddho

Visiting Information Minister Hasan Mahmud has unveiled a memorial plaque of West Bengal journalists Deepak Bandopadhyay and Surjit Ghoshal who sacrificed their lives in Bangladesh's liberation war. 

The plaque was unveiled at noon on Saturday (February 6) at the Press Club Kolkata premises.

At the time, he said, "Even though Bangladesh and India were divided along political lines, the minds of the people of these two countries could not be divided." Bangladesh is moving forward through this deep relationship between the two countries. Standing with his head held high, Bangabandhu is walking on the path of building a golden Bengal under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. '

The Minister was accompanied by Saimum Sarwar Kamal, a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Information, and Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Mohammad Imran.

Snehashis Sur, president of the Press Club Kolkata, said India would not have known what Bangladesh was like in those days without the then vocalist journalists. And not two but 13 journalists gave their lives in the war of liberation. A book has also been published on the centenary of Press Club Kolkata.
