Bangladesh: Over 1000 people hit by Dengue this year

Dhaka, November 29, 2020: The number of patients admitted to hospitals across the country, including the capital, is increasing due to dengue fever.

In the last 24 hours till Saturday noon, 29 more patients have been admitted to the hospital. So far, 506 dengue patients have been admitted to the hospital on November 28, the highest single month this year.

From January to November 26 this year, 1,134 dengue patients were admitted to the hospital. About 45 percent of the total patients were admitted on the 28th of this month. However, 1,046 dengue patients have returned home after recovering from the treatment.

It is learned that out of the total 29 patients admitted to the hospital for dengue fever in the last 24 hours till noon on Saturday, 11 were admitted in government and autonomous hospitals, 15 in private hospitals and clinics and three in Khulna division.

At present there are 6 dengue patients being treated in hospitals across the country. Of these, 62 are in government and private hospitals in the capital Dhaka and 18 are in various hospitals outside Dhaka.

According to the monthly statistics from January 1 to November 28 this year, 199 people were infected in January, 45 in February, 26 in March, 25 in April, 10 in May, 20 in June, 23 in July, 7 in August, 48 in September, 163 in October and 506 in November.

In the last seven days, a total of 145 dengue patients were admitted to the hospital. Of these, 124 were admitted to Dhaka Hospital and 21 outside Dhaka.
