Bangladesh records 237 deaths, 16,230 new cases in the last 24 hours

Dhaka, July 28: Another 237 people have died of coronavirus in one day. With this, the total number of deaths in the country stood at 20,016. At the same time,16,230 people were newly identified as Covid-19 positive. With this, the caseload in the country increased to 12,10,982.

Of the 237 deceased were 149 men and 88 women.

One among the deceased were aged between 91 and 100 years, 15 were between 81 and 90 years, 45 were between 71 and 80 years, 78 between 61 and 70 years, 44 between 51 and 60 years, 34 between 41 and 50 years, 11 between 31 and 40 years, and nine between 21 and 30 years.

Dhaka division accounted for 70 fatalities, the highest among the eight divisions, while Chittagong reported 62 deaths, Khulna 34, Rajshahi 21, Sylhet 18, Rangpur 16, Barisal nine, and Mymensingh seven deaths. The mortality rate stands at 1.65 percent.

During the same time, another 13,470 Covid-19 patients recovered across Bangladesh, taking the total number of recovered patients to 10,35,884.

Between Tuesday and Wednesday, 53,877 samples were tested at 639 labs around the country. The daily infection rate was 30.12 percent.
