Population Bangladesh's total population 16 crore 98 lakh: BBS
Dhaka, Nov 28: Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) has reported that the total population of Bangladesh is 16 crore 98 lakh 28 thousand 911.
This information was shared at an event organized at the office of BBS in Agargaon of the capital this morning (Tuesday, November 28). It is said that 11 crore 60 lakh of the country's total population lives in villages while 5 crore 37 lakh live in cities.
It was also said that in 2011, 976 people lived per square kilometer, but in 2022, 1,119 people lived per square kilometer.
Planning Minister MA Mannan was present as the chief guest on the occasion. Dr. Shahnaz Arefin, Secretary of Statistics and Information Management Department, was the special guest. Project Director Md. Dildar Hossain presented the main report at the event.
Earlier BBS gave preliminary report. Later, Bangladesh Institute of Development Research (BIDS) gave another report after verifying the data as a third party.
According to the latest data, the population of the country was 16 crore 98 lakh 28 thousand 911. The statistics published by BBS in July this year showed it 16 crore 51 lakh 58 thousand 616.
