Bangladesh sees no COVID death for 19th day in a row, 30 new cases reported

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, May 9: The Covid-19 death toll in Bangladesh stands at 29,127 as no corona-related fatality was reported in 24 hours from 8 am on Sunday to 8 am on Monday. With this, the country witnessed 19 days in a row without a death due to Covid-19. The Covid death rate in the country is 1.49 percent.

With 30 new cases of coronavirus detected in the last 24 hours, the total number of identified Covid-19 patients in the country has reached 19 lakh 52 thousand 829. The detection rate is 0.4 percent.

According to a regular press release on the Covid-19 situation in the country issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday (May 9), from 8 am on Sunday to 8 am on Monday, 7,413 samples were tested in the government and private laboratories across the country. Bangladesh has tested one crore 40 lakh 20 thousand 260 samples till date.

The DGHS said that 5,797 samples had been tested in Dhaka district (including the metropolis) in the past 24 hours and 20 new cases had been detected there. The detection rate is 34 percent.

Meanwhile, the number of people recovered from Covid-19 in the country till date has reached 18 lakh 97 thousand 798 with 272 recoveries reported in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate is 97.18 percent.
