Bangladesh sends aid to earthquake-hit Syria

Dhaka: Bangladesh Air Force C-130J transport aircraft sent essential relief materials to the victims of the earthquake in Syria.

This information was confirmed in a notification by the Directorate of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday night.

According to ISPR, on February 6, a strong earthquake hit Syria, resulting in an overall humanitarian disaster. In this context, as a result of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's decision to send humanitarian aid quickly, a C-130J transport aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force has been sent to Syria.

A team of 17 members of the Air Force left Dhaka for Syria in a C-130J transport plane of the Air Force with a total of 11 tons of relief materials including the required number of tents, blankets and dry food under the supervision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide the necessary assistance to the victims of the earthquake in Syria.

ISPR also informed that Bangladesh Air Force Group Captain Jamil Uddin Ahmed will serve as Mission Commander.

The mission will be conducted under the overall guidance of Air Chief Marshal Sheikh Abdul Hannan. Assistant Chief of Air Force (Management) Air Vice Marshal AHM Fazlul Haque bid farewell to the support team present at the air movement at Air Force Base Bangabandhu.

ISPR said that the C-130J transport aircraft will return to Bangladesh on February 13 after providing assistance.
