Bangladesh: Temperature rising in several areas

Dhaka, 9th April 2023 : Heat wave has increased in three divisions and 11 districts of the country on Saturday. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has also said that the heat may increase in the coming days.

On Saturday (April 8), the highest temperature in the country was 38.5 degrees Celsius at Chuadanga. The second highest temperature of 38 degrees Celsius was recorded in Rajshahi and Faridpur.

In the middle of the month of Chaitra, it is supposed to be hot. However, the heat was milder as there was some rain along with Kalbaisakhi at the beginning of the month and last week across the country. The heat of the sun is increasing again in different regions for a few days. Even in two days the temperature has increased by 3-4 degrees. Moderate heat wave is flowing over different parts of the country.

According to the latest notification issued by the Meteorological Department last night, mild to moderate heat waves are flowing over Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogra, Moulvibazar, Chittagong, Rangamati, Chandupur, Noakhali, Feni, Cox's Bazar and Bandarban districts along with Dhaka, Khulna and Barisal divisions. This heatwave may continue for a few more days.

The maximum temperature recorded in Dhaka on Saturday was 37.4 degrees Celsius. The country's lowest temperature of 18.4 degrees Celsius was recorded at Rajarhat in Kurigram on this day.

According to the weather synoptic, an extension of low pressure is located over West Bengal and adjoining areas. Seasonal normal low pressure is located over South Bay of Bengal.

Meanwhile, according to the sources of Rajshahi Meteorological Observatory, the room temperature in Rajshahi was 34-36 degrees Celsius for the last five days. But on Saturday it reached 38 degrees. The highest temperature in Rajshahi was 34 degrees Celsius on April 3. The next day on April 4, it increased by 2.8 degrees to 36.8 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature there was 36.8 degrees Celsius last Thursday as well.

According to the Meteorological Department, a temperature of 36-38 degrees Celsius is called a mild heat wave, a temperature of 38-40 degrees Celsius is a moderate heat wave, a temperature of 40-42 degrees Celsius is a severe heat wave and a temperature above 42 degrees is called an extreme heat wave.
