Dhaka, March 16: On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a special program has been launched to administer 32.5 million doses of anti-coronavirus vaccine from Thursday (March 17) to March 31, said Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque.

In this special campaign, the first, second and booster dose of the vaccine will be given simultaneously. He was speaking at a press conference after an information meeting on the occasion of the 26th National Worm Control Week on Wednesday (March 16).

Zahid Malek said that there is always a milestone with vaccination. A few days ago, one crore 20 lakh vaccines were given in one day. We're doing a program. As I have done before. That will be the booster dose, the second dose and also the first dose. This program will start from tomorrow on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. It will continue till March 31.

"From March 17 to March 26, we have undertaken a huge program," he said. "We are determined to vaccinate 32.5 million doses through this program. We want to give and we hope we can give."

"There is no shortage of vaccines, we have enough vaccines," he said. "We have over eight crore vaccines. You know, we have already given 12 crore 62 lakh first dose. We have given 9 crore four lakh second dose. And 50 lakh booster dose has been given. In all, more than 22 crore doses of vaccine have been given. If we can give 3 crore more doses, our total number of vaccinations will cross 25 crore. That means 75 percent of the country's population and about 95 to 100 percent of the targeted population will be vaccinated."

Zahid Maleque said, "No one died yesterday of coronavirus. This is a big news for us. The number of victims was also the lowest as an average of several months, which is very promising. We are in a very good position, there is a lot of work to be done behind the corona control. There is no shortage of corona treatment in the country, no shortage of oxygen, no shortage of beds, no shortage of ICU."
