Bangladesh to celebrate 102nd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on March 17

Dhaka, March 16: Tomorrow, March 17, is the 102nd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. This day will be celebrated through various programs of the golden jubilee of independence of Bangladesh and the year of Mujib.

Earlier, the year of Mujib started from the 100th birthday of Bangabandhu. Which has been extended till March 31 this year. The day will also be celebrated as National Children and Adolescent Day. The architect of independent Bangladesh, the undisputed leader of the Bengali nation was born on this day in 1920 in an aristocratic Muslim family in Tungipara, Gopalganj district.

On this occasion, President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have given separate messages. The National Implementation Committee and various socio-cultural organizations including Awami League have taken detailed program to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The day will also be celebrated with due dignity in Bangladeshi embassies in other countries of the world. The day has been declared a public holiday.

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu, the golden jubilee year of Bangladesh's independence, the National Implementation Committee has organized a special program titled 'Fatherland in the heart of Tungipara' to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The program includes paying homage to the Father of the Nation at 12.30 pm and discussion meeting and cultural program at 2.30 pm.

On the occasion of Bangabandhu's birthday, Awami League will hold various programs throughout the week from tomorrow. This year's event has been named 'Fatherland in the Heart'. National and party flags will be hoisted at the Awami League's central office in Dhaka tomorrow morning and at all offices across the country. The Awami League will pay homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu at Bangabandhu Bhaban at 8:30 am on that day.

President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will pay homage to Bangabandhu at Tungipara on this day.

On the other hand, on 26 March (midnight on 25 March) he officially declared the independence of Bangladesh and under his leadership the war of liberation started in 1971. Through the bloody war of nine months many coveted victories and independence of Bengalis were achieved. In the twentieth century, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has been recognized as a world-renowned leader who fought for the movement for the oppressed, downtrodden and exploited people.
