Bangladesh to enter 5G era in December

Dhaka, September 26, 2021: Bangladesh will enter the era of Five-G technology next December.

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar said this.

He said Bangladesh will not lag behind the developed countries of the world in digital technology.

In 2017, when the world is thinking about Five-G technology, at the same time Bangladesh has also completed this technology test.

In the last three years, we have already completed the preparations for entering the Five G era by formulating policies on Five-G technology and conducting multilateral discussions and analysis on various issues including other related technologies.

He was speaking as the chief guest at a virtual dialogue titled 'Five-G Ecosystem in Bangladesh and Upcoming Technologies' organized by Telecom Reporters Network Bangladesh-TRNB in ​​Dhaka on Saturday (September 25).

Explaining the need for Five-G technology, the Minister said, "The purpose of Five-G technology is to build Bangabandhu's golden Bengal through the establishment of Digital Bangladesh." At the same time, it is to create opportunities for our people to move forward and to use technology as the basis for establishing a non-discriminatory society. He said the technology would not be limited to the Fourth Industrial Revolution or Society Five Point Zero.

Mustafa Jabbar highlighted the context of launching Five-G technology and added that initiatives have been taken to launch Five-G with all stakeholders.

Four-G technology is enough for normal internet usage and talking. Five-G technology is an industrial product. Five-G is essential for the enterprise or for fisheries and agriculture to meet the challenges of the age of technology AI, robotics, IoT, big data or blockchain. Even foreign investors in industrial plants will not invest without Five-G. To this end, BTCL has initially completed preparations to connect Five-G in five economic zones of the country.

Speakers on the occasion expressed their views on the possibilities and challenges of Five-G and appreciated the program taken by the government to build Five-G infrastructure with waves.
