Dhaka, May 28: Bangladesh has demanded justice for Israel's illegal occupation and aggression in the Gaza Strip. Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen called on the UN Human Rights Council to take action.

He said the UN Human Rights Council must take action to ensure accountability and justice for violations of international law in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

The foreign minister was addressing a special session of the UN Human Rights Council on Palestine on Thursday (May 26th).

Mentioning that the world community should come forward to stop the Israeli aggression, AK Abdul Momen said that Israel must stop illegal occupation and settlement. The impunity and silence of the international community for these activities is unfortunate.

Apart from Bangladesh, the foreign ministers of Palestine, Turkey, Egypt, Kuwait, Malaysia, Pakistan, Namibia, Qatar, Tunisia and Libya also addressed the special session.

Earlier this month, Israel launched a deadly attack on the Gaza Strip. Fighter jets and heavy weapons were used in the attack. At least 220 Palestinians were killed. Of which 63 are children. At least 1,500 Palestinians were injured. On the other hand, 12 people, including three Israeli soldiers, were killed in the counter attack of Hamas. At least 300 people were injured.
