Dhaka, December 10: President Md. Abdul Hamid said Bangladesh has become known as a role model of development in the world today.

"This trend of development will continue. Through the implementation of Vision 2021 and 2041, we will be able to build Bangladesh as the 'Golden Bengal' the Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman dreamt of," the President said.

He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Digital World 2020, the country's largest IT event, at the Bangladesh Film Archive's Multipurpose Hall in Agargaon, Dhaka, on Wednesday (December 9th). The President inaugurated the conference and exhibition via a video message.

President Md. Abdul Hamid said, "More than 13,000 entrepreneurs have been created at the local level through the establishment of digital centers across the country, half of whom are women." He said, "I believe that by 2041, Bangladesh will be able to take its place on the map of the world as a developed and prosperous country. In 2041, Bangladesh will be the Golden Bengal the father of the nation dreamt of."

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Junaid Ahmed Palak said, "At present, there is no red tape in the country and no bureaucratic complexity. This has been possible due to the use of information technology. As a result of using this technology, there will be no corruption in Bangladesh in future."

About the event, Palak said, "This time we have organized it on a virtual platform. We have created iOS and Android applications. You can visit the website called DigitalWorld.org. Everything will be socially maintained and digitally connected."

Syed Almas Kabir, president of the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), said, "The issue of personal security has come up as the use of online has increased. I would request the Prime Minister to come up with a policy for online personal security. BASIS is ready to cooperate overall."

The theme of this year's Digital World is 'Socially Distinguished, Digitally Connected'.

The three-day event will end on December 11. This year, there will be ministerial conferences, seminars, exhibitions, digital world honors, virtual Mujib Corner on Bangabandhu and concert on virtual platform. The achievements of Digital Bangladesh in the last 11 years will be highlighted in the event.

Adviser to the Prime Minister Salman F Rahman will be the chief guest at the closing and award ceremony on the evening of December 11.
