Dhaka, November 18: Sajeeb Wazed Joy, ICT adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said Bangladesh could not deviate from its founding principles of secularism.

"No matter what religion we belong to, we are all Bengalis," Joy, the chairman of the Center for Research and Information (CRI), made the remarks while attending the Joy Bangla Youth Awards ceremony organized by Young Bangla on Tuesday night.

Addressing the young organizers at the event, Joy said, "Every time I see you, I am inspired. We have a culture of complaining in our country. But these young people are working with their own talents and hard work to solve the problems of the society without complaining."

Joy said, "We have to lead the country by ourselves without looking at others."

Thanking all those who received the award and those who did not, he said, "Bangabandhu's dream was to take Bangladesh forward. You are doing that."

Joy said, "In the Corona situation, when the death rate is much higher in different developed countries, our death rate is lower, though a single death is not desirable. They did not listen to their experienced doctors. But we have heard."

Noting that the country's economic situation is still improving in the Corona situation, he said, "Many developed countries are facing huge economic losses. But we are still improving due to our leadership."

Joy Bangla Youth Award was given to 30 youth organizations working for the development of the country and society. Joy declared the winners at a virtual event organized by Young Bangla on Tuesday night.

CRI Trustee Nasrul Hamid Bipu was present on the occasion conducted by Dr. Nuzhat Chowdhury. Certificates, crests and laptops will be delivered to the winners. In addition, all the top nominated youth organizations will get certificates.

With nearly 300,000 members, more than 50,000 volunteers and more than 315 organizations, Young Bangla aims to directly involve the younger generation in the country's development activities in 'Vision-2021' and showcase their new ideas and innovations to the world.
