Bangladeshi man killed in BSF firing at Chuadanga border

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Oct 10: After Satkhira, a Bangladeshi businessman named Muntaz Hossain (40) was killed in firing by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at the Darshana border in Chuadanga.

Locals saw the body lying in the middle of the Indian border near Bara Baldia border early on Sunday (October 9). Later BSF personnel left with the body.

The deceased Muntaz Hossain was the son of late Nazrul Islam of Skulpara of Chhota Baldia village of Parakrishnapur-Madna union of Damurhuda Upazila of Chuadanga. He was a cattle trader by profession.

Parakrishnapur-Madna Union Parishad chairman SAM Zakaria Alam said that Muntaz Hossain went to the Indian border to bring cows on Saturday (October 8) night. On Sunday morning, local Bangladeshis saw his body lying inside the Indian border. He died in the BSF firing. The body was taken by BSF. The body will be brought back subject to negotiations between the border guards of the two countries.

Hazrat Ali, a local UP member, said Muntaz used to trade in wood. Now I heard he used to bring cows from India illegally. Muntaz was shot dead by BSF while bringing cattle to the border at night.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Darshana Police Station AHM Lutful Kabir said, "I have learned that a Bangladeshi has been killed in firing by BSF. I am going to the scene. Details will be given later."

Director of Chuadanga 6 BGB, Lt. Col. Shah Md. Ishtiaq said, "I have learned about the death. The incident will be investigated and reported in detail. We are working to bring the body home."

Earlier in the morning, a Bangladeshi youth named Hasanur Rahman (25) was killed in BSF firing in Kushkhali area of the ​​Satkhira border.
