Bangladeshi peacekeeper killed in accident in Central African Republic

Dhaka, October 27: A Bangladeshi peacekeeper died in a road accident in Central African Republic.

A specialised team of Bangladeshi peacekeepers on a mission in the country left the port of Kaga for Bangui on October 25. On the way, on October 26, at 12:30 pm local time, the road connecting the dangerous bridge in N'Dele area was slippery and muddy.

The driver of the accident, Army No. 1811757 Lance Corporal (driver) Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, ASC (38), died on the spot with serious injuries.

Besides, Army No. 1224542 Sergeant Md. Abdus Samad, Artillery (35) and Army No. 4508372 Mokleshur Rahman, Bir (31), were seriously injured.

They are currently undergoing intensive care at the UN Level-2 Hospital in the capital, Bangui.

They will soon be sent to Uganda for advanced treatment.

Other Bangladeshi peacekeepers stationed in the Central African Republic are safe.
