Bangladeshi youth killed in Naogaon border firing by BSF

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 27 March 2024: A young man named Al Amin (33) was killed in firing by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) across Porsha border in Naogaon. The incident took place in the Milmari area, about two kilometers inside India from the border on Tuesday (March 26) morning. The deceased was Al Amin, son of Abu Bakkar Siddique of Neetpur village of Porsha upazila.

According to local sources, on Monday (March 25) night, some people including Al Amin entered Milmari area of Malda district of India through Nitpur border. Members of the Agrabad camp under the Indian BSF-159 battalion chased them and fired at them while they were returning to Bangladesh in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Al Amin was shot dead in Milmari area of India while others escaped. BSF personnel then took away his body.

Naogaon-16 BGB Commander Lt. Col. Muhammad Sadiqur Rahman confirmed the death of a Bangladeshi in BSF firing. He said that the incident took place in Milmari area, about two kilometers inside India from the border of Bangladesh. A letter has been sent to BSF calling for a flag meeting at the level of BGB and BSF company commanders in this regard.
