Bangladeshis to get Covid-19 vaccine in phases

Dhaka, November 9: Bangladeshi citizens will get the Covid-19 vaccine in phases, officials saifd on Sunday. 

He made the remarks when Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Mustafa Osman Turan paid a courtesy call on Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque at the Secretariat on Sunday. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed the health sector in their respective countries.

Asked about the coronavirus situation in Bangladesh, the ambassador was told the Serum Institute of India had signed a tripartite agreement on corona vaccine with Beximco Pharma and the Ministry of Health in Bangladesh on November 5. According to the agreement, the Indian company will supply 30 million doses of corona vaccine invented by Oxford University researchers to Bangladesh through Beximco Pharma.

Zahid Maleque said the Bangladesh government initially started work to prevent corona with 30 million vaccines but planned to import more vaccines in phases and give them to all the people of the country.

Apart from Coronavirus, the two leaders also discussed the Rohingya issue, community clinic services, the country's hospital activities, measles-rubella vaccine, corona second wave handling, and the development and strengthening of bilateral relations.
