Bangladesh Barisal: 10 die in road mishap
Dhaka, May 29, 2022: At least 10 people died when a bus lost control and collided with a tree in Barisal's Wazirpur.
Another 19 injured people are being treated at the hospital. The accident took place in Sanuhar area of Dhaka-Barisal highway around 5:30 am on Sunday (May 29).
Ali Arshad, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Uzirpur Police Station, said a Jamuna Line Paribahan bus carrying passengers from Dhaka left for Bhandaria in Pirojpur on Saturday night.
While crossing Sanuhar area of Wazirpur, the bus lost control and collided with a tree on the side of the highway, twisting the front part of the bus.
Upon receiving the news, two units of police and fire service came and recovered the bodies of eight passengers from inside the bus. 18-20 injured people were rescued and sent to Upazila Health Complex and Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
OC Ali Arshad further said that the body of another person was recovered from the pond near the accident site around 9:15 am.
Besides, another injured passenger died while undergoing treatment at Barisal Hospital. The death toll in the accident stood at 10 people. Attempts are being made to know the names of the victims.
