BGB Day BGB Day today
Dhaka, December 20: Today, Wednesday, is Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Day. On this occasion, a comprehensive programme has been taken at Pilkhana BGB headquarters in the capital as well as in all regions, Border Guard Training Center and College, all sectors, and battalion levels.
BGB Director General Major General Abul Hossain started the day's programme by hoisting the regimental flag of the force at 8:30 a.m. and offering wreaths to the martyrs of the Liberation War at 8:30 am.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages on the occasion of the day. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the BGB Day parade at 10 am as the chief guest and took the salute and inspected the parade.
According to a press release from BGB, Cabinet members, advisers, high-ranking military and civilian officials and members of the diplomatic corps were present at the BGB Day parade.
President Md. Abdul Hamid said in his speech, "Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman took the initiative to reorganize and modernize the army immediately after independence. Following the footsteps of the Father of the Nation, the present government has made Border Guard Bangladesh a more organized, smart, disciplined and professional force."
He also said that various advanced equipment has been added to make Border Guard Bangladesh a world-class modern border guard force to face the challenges of the 21st century. The current Border Guard Bangladesh is a three-dimensional border guard force capable of performing its duties very efficiently on water, land and air.
