Dhaka, Jan 31: Clashes are going on between the insurgent group Arakan Army and the Myanmar army in the Rakhine state of Myanmar, bordering Bangladesh. Due to this conflict, Myanmar army's helicopters are practicing near Tumbru and Teknaf in Bangladesh. As the conflict escalates, it is feared that Rohingyas may again enter Bangladesh from Myanmar.

Local residents have already claimed that several hundred Rohingyas are staying at the border of Ukhia and Teknaf. BGB is on alert to prevent possible infiltration of Rohingyas.

Last Sunday, January 28, around 2 pm, several helicopters of Myanmar conducted exercises in the border area. Residents of the border area saw the helicopter flying from Tumbru Bazar in Ghumdhum Union of Naikhongchhari Upazila of Bandarban. Earlier on Saturday, bullets hit the wall of a house on the border of Teknaf.

Locals say that more gunshots are heard in Ulubnia, Tulatuli and Kanjarpara border of Teknaf Hoikung Union, Anjuman Para of Palangkhali in Ukhia Upazila and Tumbru and Ghumdhum areas of Naikhongchhari Upazila.

Residents of Palongkhali Anjuman Para area said that the Rohingyas fled from Maungdu and Bolibazar in Myanmar and are staying near the border of Bangladesh. Some Rohingyas are staying on boats in Naf river. The Myanmar Border Guard Force (BGP) is not stopping the Rohingyas. This has spread panic on the border of Bangladesh.
