BGB team arrives in India to attend conference

Dhaka, 13 November 2022 : A 15-member delegation of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has left for India on a three-day visit to attend the border conference.

Around 10 am on Sunday (November 13), the team crossed the Benapole check post border in Jessore and proceeded to Kolkata, India.

Rangpur Region Commander Brigadier General Nowroz Ehsan is leading the delegation. Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nusrat Jahan and 14 other officials are with him. Among them are four special representatives.

India's Border Security Force (BSF) Kolkata Sector Commander Rajes Kumar Phulel greeted the delegation as it reached No Man's Land. Later he gave 'guard of honor' to the BGB delegation at Petrapole BSF camp in India.

According to BGB sources, various issues related to the border will be discussed in Kolkata from November 13 to 16 between the border guarding forces. After the discussion on November 16, the delegation will return to the country via Benapole.

Lieutenant Colonel Shahed Minhaj Siddiqui, commander of Jessore 49 BGB Battalion, said that the meeting will discuss various issues including prevention of illegal infiltration, smuggling, drugs, trafficking of women and children.
