Dhaka, December 21: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said her government is working to transform Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) into a world-class force equipped with modern technology.

She said, "'Border Guard Bangladesh Vision 2041' plan has been adopted to make Border Guard Bangladesh a world-class modern border guard force."

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said this while addressing the chief guest at a function organized on the occasion of 'Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Day-2022' at the Bir Uttam Anwar Hossain Parade Ground inside the BGB headquarters at Pilkhana in the capital on Wednesday.

She appreciated the responsibility of the Border Guard. She also mentioned their special role in taking care of Rohingyas in Cox's Bazar. She appreciated their professionalism in keeping the border situation stable.

The Prime Minister said that the Awami League government is doing extensive development work under the restructuring of the BGB to increase its capacity. As a result, Border Guard Bangladesh has institutionalized as an efficient, strong, modern, and three-dimensional force.

She said that the creation of new units/sectors/regions in the organizational structure of BGB has created a balance at the command level. As a result, it has become easier than ever to properly secure the border, suppress border crime, and protect the lives and property of the bordering public

She said that smart digital surveillance and tactical response systems have been deployed at vulnerable borders for flawless surveillance and countering inter-state terrorism. As these advanced weapons and equipment have been added to BGB, the attack capability of this force has increased.

She said, this country is ours, as the country develops, your family will be well, healthy, will have a better life, and will get all kinds of opportunities including education, treatment, and employment. That should always be remembered.

Sheikh Hasina said, "After the passing of the Border Guard Act 2010, we have made this force modern and up-to-date. I am confident that Border Guard Bangladesh will continue to achieve its goals as a modern border guarding force."

"I believe training is very important for any professional force. There is no substitute for training for a disciplined and efficient force. Besides the 'Border Guard Training Center and College' at Satkania, another training center at Chuadanga is underway for advanced training of BGB members," she added.
