Senior Assistant Director (Media) and Senior ASP Md. Fazlul Haque of RAB-2 gave this information on Monday (December 19) morning.

He said that on the basis of intelligence, a team of RAB raided Humayun Road area of Mohammadpur and arrested Nur Alam alias Limon. The arrested Limon is the son of Mir M. Nurul Islam of Pirgacha Upazila of Rangpur. He was absconding for 10 years. On December 9, 2012, during the blockade programme of BNP, Biswajit Das was brutally hacked to death by a group of rioters near Bahadur Shah Park in the capital. Biswajit was an employee of a tailor shop. Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) filed a charge sheet against 21 people in the Sutrapur police station murder case in that incident.

At the end of the judicial proceedings, on December 18, 2013, Dhaka's Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 sentenced eight people including Mir Md. Noore Alam alias Limon to death and 13 to life imprisonment.

The High Court later acquitted two of the eight death row convicts and commuted the death sentences of four, including Limon, to life. Mir Md. Noor Alam alias Limon was absconding even when the High Court verdict was announced.
