Dhaka, November 28: Chief Patron of Jatiya Party and Leader of Opposition in Parliament Begum Rowshan Ershad said that people want change for progress and peace. Jatiya Party can give that peace.

She said, "BNP is a tyrannical party, there is no question of alliance with BNP. After five months of treatment at Bamrungrad Hospital in Thailand on Sunday afternoon, she said these to journalists and party leaders at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport after returning home.

To welcome Rowshan Ershad, Ershad's son Rahgir Al Mahi Saad Ershad and daughter-in-law Mahima Saad, Jatiya Party Co-Chairman Begum Roshan Ershad's spokesperson Kazi Mamunur Rashid, party's former secretary general ABM Ruhul Amin Hawladar and Mosiur Rahman Ranga, Golam Masih, Iqbal Hossain Raju and others were present at the airport.

Stating that Jatiya Party has suffered a lot under BNP, Rowshan Ershad also said, "The Jatiya Party has suffered a lot under the rule of BNP. Hundreds of leaders and workers have been jailed. We were not allowed to hold public meetings. Our rally was attacked. Moreover, we have seen the corruption, mismanagement and inefficiency of Hawa Bhaban during their regime."

She said, "We will give qualified candidates for the post of mayor in Rangpur city corporation elections. Jatiya Party must win this seat. There may be some conspiracies to weaken the National Party. We can clear the misunderstanding and return to the political program soon. We will thwart all conspiracies and build a united and strong national party. Roshan Ershad said, "I don't want to divide the party. I want unity, I express my gratitude to all those who have spent the last 32 years behind the party, have suffered for the Jatiya Party, served jail time and sacrificed their lives."

Expressing confidence in the government in the current political situation, the opposition leader said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is making every effort to maintain the peace, stability and development of the country. There are some restrictions like corruption, mismanagement of the economy and price hike of essential commodities. The Prime Minister is aware of these issues. The Russia-Ukraine war has caused serious economic problems. It has also affected our country. So we all should be more alert and cooperate with the government to face the challenge.
