Dhaka, March 5: Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has alleged that the BNP is conspiring to assassinate Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Obaidul Quader made the allegation based on a statement made by a BNP leader at a Rajshahi divisional rally.

Commenting on August 15 and August 21 as a continuation of the same conspiracy, Obaidul Quader said, "The BNP leader's statement has exposed their murderous politics. This statement shows that the BNP is now conspiring to assassinate the popular Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after failing the movement and elections. It needs to be examined whether the statements of the BNP leaders are part of the implementation of the secret plan according to the London table."

He made the allegations in a regular online briefing from the official residence of the parliament building on Friday (March 5th).

Obaidul Quader said, "At the Rajshahi divisional rally, a BNP leader made a suggestive and provocative statement to hold another August 15 in the country. The people were outraged. Fazle Hossain Badsha of the Workers Party protested against that statement. We thought it was a personal statement. What will we assume is their party statement if it is not a statement? If it is a party statement, then the character of BNP's fascist mentality, conspiracy and murderous politics has become clear again."

Obaidul Quader said, "Our Rajshahi district Awami League has given a 72-hour ultimatum to withdraw the statement. We want to know again clearly the public threat of the BNP leader."

Responding to a statement by BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Awami League general secretary Quader said, "BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said the government is not elected, the government will fall in a united movement of the people. The era of announcing the fall of the government is already over. But the people have not seen any movement on the streets. They have no success in the elections."

"While in power, they created multiple alternative centers of power to run the government. The call for their movement still comes from various centers of power at home and abroad. The people have no issue with their movement thinking. There is a strong desire to regain power. When the BNP returns to power, Their politics is divided into many streams. And this divided politics will pose a threat to the welfare of the people."
