Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 18 August 2023: BNP-Jamaat has always propagated terror-violence and lies in its political activities, said Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon MP. He said that recently they have started campaigning and violence in favor of war crimes by using Saeedee's death as an excuse ahead of the elections.

He also said that the new journey of democracy started in the country through the popular uprising of the 90s, false propaganda and terrorist activities were started on religion in the same way to derail it. As a result, I was shot dead in front of the party office on the evening of August 17, 1992. I survived with the prayers and blessings of the countrymen, but till date there has been no proper investigation or trial of that assassination attempt.

He said these things at the 'Anti-Terrorism Day' program on August 17 at the Workers' Party office on Friday. Meanwhile, Workers Party's Medical, Relief and Rehabilitation Department also organized blood donation and hepatitis B and C screening programs.

Rashed Khan Menon said, at that time, under the pressure of the people's movement, I was sent to London and I and my family-well-wishers had to bear all the expenses of the treatment.

Even the house built on a bank loan on the land given by my father in Uttara had to be sold to meet the medical expenses. Today, after so many years, remembering that assassination attempt, I call upon the countrymen to stand united against the recent anti-democratic activities of BNP-Jamaat. It needs to be made clear that the people of this country cannot be diverted from the path of fair and peaceful elections and democracy by fear of foreign influence.

Heptology expert Professor Dr. Mamun Al Mahtab Sapnail, ENT expert Professor Dr. Abu Yusuf Fakir, legal economist MS Siddiqui also spoke at the discussion meeting under the chairmanship of Party Politburo member Anisur Rahman Mallik and moderated by Mustafa Alamgir Ratan. After the discussion, Dhaka Medical College collected blood and hepatitis B and C screening.
