BNP leader stabbed to death in Sylhet, Chhatra Dal leader arrested

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Nov 7: BNP leader AFM Kamal was killed by miscreants in Sylhet city's Ambarkhana Barabazar. This incident happened on Sunday (November 6) around 9 pm. He is the former health affairs secretary of Sylhet district BNP and former publicity secretary of Sylhet district Chhatra Dal. Police arrested a Chhatra Dal leader named Ishtiaq Ahmad Raju on suspicion of involvement in the incident.

According to the police, BNP leader Kamal was sitting in a private car in that area at night. At that time, two miscreants who came on a motorcycle stabbed him and ran away. An operation is underway to arrest those involved in the murder.

It is known that AFM Kamal was a resident of the Subidbazar area of ​​the city. He was GS of Sylhet Law College Student Union and President of Sylhet Sadar Upazila Chhatra Dal.

Sylhet Metropolitan Police Airport Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khan Md. Mainul Zakir said, "Kamal was sitting in his private car in Barabazar area on Sunday night. Meanwhile, two miscreants on a motorcycle stabbed him and ran away. After being taken to the hospital, the doctors on duty declared him dead."

The OC said that the body of this BNP leader, the victim of murder, has been kept at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy. The police raided and arrested a Chhatra Dal leader named Raju on suspicion of involvement in the incident. He was taken to the police station and is being interrogated. An operation is underway to arrest those involved in the murder.

Abdul Ahad Khan, President of Sylhet District Sechsevak Dal, said, "We are yet to know who stabbed Kamal. I am not sure whether this murder is due to a political dispute or not."

Last Friday (November 4), the detained Raju stabbed an employee of the Power Development Board named Lipu in Shahi Eidgah area of ​​the city. It is said that Lipu of Supply area is currently undergoing treatment at Osmani Medical College Hospital.
