Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 9 November 2023: Additional Commissioner of DMP Mohammad Haroon Or Rashid said that the central leaders of BNP who are on remand have accepted the responsibility of sabotaging the BNP's mass meeting called by Paltan in the capital, including attacking the residence of the Chief Justice and setting fire to the BRTC bus. They even commented that such sabotage was not right.

The DB chief disclosed this information while talking to reporters at his office on Minto Road in the capital on Wednesday afternoon. He said, first of all, the central leaders who are on remand with us were saying that sabotage was not done by our party people, it seems that someone else did it. They were skeptical about it. Then they (BNP activists) were shown the CCTV footage we have, the video made by the smart team.

We said, you were on stage, leading the rally. Besides, they saw in the video, who played the role of the central leaders who were on the stage on the day of the rally. Where is Sultan Salahuddin running with a stick, where is Rabiul Islam Nayan setting fire, the gunpowder that we found from the house of former central leader of Chhatra Dal, Abu Saeed Mintu, has given Mintu's confession. After seeing everything, they (central leaders) also expressed grief. They say, it is not right.

When asked who the main planners were, the DB chief said, they may think that if a few isolated places in Bangladesh are set on fire, they will be scared, or the police will be demoralized, this is not true. The work of the police force is to provide security to people's belongings. Taking care not to create any obstacle to the movement of common people.

Haroon Or Rashid also said that every member of our police, DB Police, Thana Police, is patrolling in different areas 24 hours a day and night. Moving around in disguise. The police are roaming around in the guise of passengers in the bus. No exemption will be given to anyone who wants to do such thing. Even those involved in these incidents will be rewarded if they are handed over, which was announced by our DMP Commissioner a few days ago. A reward of 20,000 taka will be given if the saboteur is caught.
