Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 20 March 2024: Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that BNP leaders are tired, workers are disappointed. In this situation, they have nothing to do but abuse. The party is now blindly criticizing the government in the name of iftar party.

He said this to reporters at an exchange meeting with the leaders of Dhaka Metropolitan North-South Labor League and Krishak League at the Awami League's central office on Bangabandhu Avenue on Tuesday.

The bridge minister said, "BNP is having an iftar party, should I call it an iftar party or a backbiting party? It seems that this iftar party is being organized to backbite the Awami League. It is not for the praise of God, but the government is being criticized in the name of the iftar party."

He said, "If BNP lies here, they must answer. Let them stop lying. Then there is no need to apologise. We are not going to lie down and say anything."

Obaidul Quader, in response to a BNP leader's statement against Awami League for breaking the BNP, said, "Why should we break the BNP? Do we have any weakness, which needs to be filled by bringing people from the BNP. There are many leaders and activists in the Awami League. Yes. In the last election, you saw how many people gathered to take the nomination form. There is no crisis in Awami League."

In response to the question whether the government had a role in the creation of the King's Party in the last national election, the Road Transport and Bridge Minister said, "Why would the government party go to the King's Party? Many political parties bloom here ahead of the election. Which one is the King's Party and which is the Praja Party? Nothing is known. We see everyone as a political party. The Election Commission registers them."
