BNP not contesting polls for fear of loss: Quader

Dhaka, October 3: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has commented that the tool of BNP movement is rusty. He said the BNP's alleged tide has now turned to low tide. "The BNP is already worried about the collapse in the next national election. So they are scared," he said this in a virtual briefing from his residence on Saturday (October 2).

Responding to BNP General Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's comment that the government is scared of BNP's public support, Quader said, "Fakhrul Islam Alamgir can feel complacent in the use of these creative words. Employees can imagine anyhting they want to to protect themselves from the wrath, but the people of the country know that there is a contradiction in their statements with the reality."

He said, "Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir presents new information every day and sometimes his eloquence belies his imagination. The Awami League does not tremble with fear, it is Bangabandhu's politics to move forward by overcoming obstacles in the way of achieving challenges and goals. And that politics is being done by Awami League under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina."

Obaidul Quader said, 'The highways of this country know the heroism and rich history of Awami League's movement and struggle. People also know about BNP's recklessness, killing democracy, conspiracy, looting and opportunistic politics.

Referring to the BNP's whims, Obaidul Quader said, "If they form a neutral caretaker government, they will take part in the elections. In fact, the BNP knows very well that the issue of caretaker government is a settled issue."

"Who canceled the caretaker government?" He asked.

"The caretaker government has been abolished in the light of the high court's verdict. The system was an interim arrangement. The caretaker government cannot continue in the long run," Quader said.

Obaidul Quader said, “As the country's democracy moves forward, confidence in the government and the electoral system begins to return. The Election Commission is a constitutional body, the government has no interference in this body."

He said that those who introduced multi-party jokes and opportunism in the name of multi-party democracy, those who do not have the practice of democracy within the party, today they talk about democracy.
